HOW LUCKY AM I to have friends who not only live in such amazing places, but also share my love for exploring them. San Clemente, California, is absolutely stunning, and what made this trip even more special was the warm, welcoming vibe of the locals. We never once felt like tourists—everyone made us feel like we were part of the community. In fact, the experience was so incredible that we’ve already decided to return and spend half of our spring break there!

I was genuinely surprised by the endless activities you can enjoy in this charming surf town. The options really are limitless, from surfing and hiking to shopping and enjoying local cafes. Whether you're looking for an adrenaline rush or just a relaxing day out, San Clemente has something for everyone. If you have a group of friends with different interests, this is absolutely the place to be! I also appreciated that, whether you're an early riser or someone who enjoys sleeping in, this town is always ready to welcome you, no matter when you choose. The only moments of downtime were the ones we intentionally chose, but even then, we never found ourselves bored. We packed a lot into just three days, and I’m already excited for our next visit, knowing there’s a whole new list of adventures waiting for us!

Without a doubt, the highlight of the trip was attempting to surf—emphasis on attempting. Our two friends who live in San Clemente took on the role of our instructors, and the local surfers were generous enough to give us some space to learn. While I’m not expecting to be competing in surf competitions anytime soon, I can honestly say it was one of the funniest, most memorable experiences of my life. Even though we were far from perfect, it was the perfect mix of challenge and laughter, and I wouldn’t trade those moments for anything!

Below, you will find some of my favorite recommendations and outfits that are perfect for the weather in San Clemente, California in October.

LETS GO!

Traveling around

  • Walking – Around the neighborhoods and throughout the town, people love to walk and enjoy the perfect weather. Every morning, I would take a stroll around the neighborhood, taking in all the sights and sounds of San Clemente which I highly recommend!

  • Driving – I’d recommend driving to your destination, but then parking and walking the rest of the way once you get there. It’s the best way to really take in the town.

  • Biking/Mopeds/Golf carts – The locals of San Clemente love biking, riding mopeds, or golf carts around town! It’s common to see a surfboard strapped to the side of their vehicle. It’s such a fun and convenient way to get around, especially for quick trips to the beach or local spots.
